Willie Nelson

Willie Nelson is an American singer and songwriter. He has won several awards, including Grammy Award for Best Country Album, Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award and Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. He has sold over 60 million albums worldwide.
Born in Fort Worth, Texas, with his versatile and eclectic sound, Willie Nelson is one of the most successful country music singers. He started playing the guitar at age ten and performed at local events. He recorded his first single, ‘No Place For Me’ in 1952, which sold 3000 copies.

Willie spent several years attempting to make a name for himself on the country music scene, but the industry didn’t appreciate his sound, and he refused to compromise and conform to the Nashville country music style. After securing a job as a songwriter for Pamper music, many of his songs became hits for other singers, but he still struggled to become an artist. The industry treated him as an outsider until the release of his album ‘Red Headed Stranger’ in 1975, which reached number one on the country charts. His song ‘Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain’ earned him his first Grammy Award for Best Country Vocal Performance.

Nelson has been married to Annie D’Angelo for 31 years. He has eight children, but his son Billy died by suicide in 1991 at just 33 years old. He and his wife currently reside in Spicewood, Texas.
